Hyatt Hotels & Resorts announced this week the launch of its new group billing technology, designed to eliminate pesky piles of paper and photocopies after a large event and allow planners to more easily review charges while a meeting is happening.

The system, called Group Bill, works in real time, allowing meeting planners to reconcile meeting charges on a daily basis from their computers.  Available in PDF and Excel formats, Group Bill is organized with a table of contents and interactive hyperlinks to view the details of every charge.

Group Bill technology is now available in 95 of Hyatt’s 120 hotels, with the rest–including its sites in the Caribbean–adopting the new system by the end of 2012. Hyatt collected feedback from meeting planners in the yearlong development process and designed it with planners in mind, said Steve Enselien, vice president of catering and convention services at Hyatt.

“If you’ve ever planned a major event, reconciling the bill can take a week of your life,” Enselien said. “We think that it is going to be a huge time saver.”
