I just heard that Steve Joyce, president and chief executive officer for Choice Hotels International, is going to be the first head honcho to go undercover for the next season of the TV show "Undercover Boss." I've seen a lot of GMs who almost unconsciously pick lint off the back of a chair in the lobby and jump behind the reservation desk to help out when it gets busy, but it'll be interesting to see the chief executive scrubbing bathrooms and dealing with cranky check-ins. I've only watched that show a couple of times (it seems too managed to me, but interesting).
