A reader recently e-mail this to me: "Are you aware of any guidelines specially aimed at biomedical equipment manufacturers as they relate to the new Standards for Commercial Support regs? Would you let me know if you have read or heard anything differently than what is written in the SCS guidelines?"
Just in case anyone else has the same question, I'm guessing she's thinking of the AdvaMed Code, which is a voluntary code similar to the PhRMA Code, only for members of AdvaMed, the association for medical device manufacturers. Here are a couple of articles about it:
Advamed Takes on Ethics
Advamed Issues Revised Ethics Code
Their code of ethics is posted at http://www.advamed.org/.
I've also heard that OIG is starting to keep a closer eye on device companies than it used to, so tread carefully!
