I just read an interesting post on BusinessWeek's Blogspotting, where journalist Stephen Baker offers to let readers add what they think is missing from an article (and there's always something, it seems to me) and—here's the sticky part—delete an equal amount of text so the article still would fit on the page. I often end up doing this very thing up until we ship to the printer, and unlike Stephen, I kind of enjoy it (though it's disheartening to see just how cuttable most of the stuff I write ends up being after I haven't seen it for a day or two).
If anyone has similar impulses about anything I've written, please feel free to edit to your heart's content (you can cut and paste the text from Medical Meetings' Web site), and e-mail me your revised versions. I'd love to see what you all would do!
