I recently recieved the below request from a reader. Since I can't help, I was hoping maybe you could.
- I have been challenged by one of our pharma clients to write a needs assessment in a new area of patient care. They want to learn more about what is needed out there before putting their dollars into a new CME program which might not "hit the mark." I can understand their concerns especially given the tight constraints on CME funding these days. My problem is that I don't
have a good needs assessment template from which to work. I called ACCME
to see if they had one I could use as an example (I want to see the elements theirs contained) and they said they didn't have one. Furthermore, they suggested the Alliance for CME could help. I called them and they suggested I purchase their "best practices" manual for $60. They thought there was something in there that would help. I am considering it but thought I might see if you have anything I can use? Can you suggest a resource?
Much to my chagrin, I haven't been able to dig anything up for him, and I haven't looked at the Best Practices manual for a few years. If you have a needs assessment template you'd be willing to share, please e-mail me and I'll pass it along to him.
