The XtremeASAE Blog is hitting its stride, now that the conference has started. So many great posts, so little time. I hope to catch up some tonight. But a quick skim brought me to this quote from Jim Gilmore (link here)that gets at the heart of what bothers me when I hear people talk about creating "experiences" for attendees with funky footsteps on the carpet or human appetizer tables or unusual lighting or whatever:
"'The Set' or place is not the experience. Experience occurs inside of a person."
It seems to be really hard for people to tease out the difference, which is subtle since one thing leads to another. But decor, F&B, etc., aren't the end result. Delighting your attendees is. That's what gets lost all too often.
