According to this article in the Las Vegas Sun:
The number of doctors practicing in Nevada increased dramatically between 2003
and 2004, while the number of actions taken by the state Board of Medical
Examiners dropped by more than half.
Partly as a result of that record, Public Citizen, a Washington D.C.,
watchdog group, dropped Nevada from 32nd in the nation in 2003 to 46th among 51
boards it reviewed last year.
The board responded that part of the discrepancy may be because it doesn't track "'non-punitive' actions such as warning letters and requiring doctors to take
continuing education classes."
