The Convention Industry Council has added three meeting industry stalwarts to its Hall of Leaders—Patti Shock, professor and academic consultant, University of Las Vegas/International School of Hospitality; John Christison, principal and managing member, BCI+Network; and Gary Sain, the former president/CEO of Visit Orlando, who passed away in 2012. They will be formally honored at the Hall of Leaders Gala on Sunday, October 12, 2014, at the MGM Grand Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, kicking off IMEX America Week.
They join 111 other industry luminaries already inducted into the Hall of Leaders, which serves to highlight the achievements of industry pioneers and emerging leaders who have wrought changes to both the meetings industry and business culture as a whole over the course of their careers. Honorees are nominated by CIC member organizations or by others in the community. Christison was nominated by the International Association of Venue Managers, Shock by the National Association of Catering and Events, and Sain by the International Association of Exhibitions and Events.

In addition to being feted at the gala, honorees have their career stories housed virtually at conventionindustry.org/vhol.
The CIC also named the recipients of its third set of Pacesetter Awards, which recognize real-time achievement; the HOL recognizes people for their lifetime’s work. The Young Professionals Pacesetter Awards this year went to Donnell Bayot and Lindsay Arell.
Photos and a complete listing of previous HOL honorees are available on the CIC Web site.
