Industry Recovery through Re-Education

The PCMA Foundation aims to provide 1,000 industry pros with skills training for the new meetings environment.

The Professional Convention Management Association Foundation has launched an ambitious campaign to raise $250,000 by December 2020 to fund its Accelerating Reskilling initiative.

The initiative aims to help 1,000 business-event industry professionals—planners, suppliers, students, or faculty—who have been hurt by the economic crisis brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic, by providing new educational opportunities. According to the foundation’s website, examples of what could be supported through the program include access to the Digital Event Strategist certification, a CMP online prep course, or the 2021 Convening Leaders conference. A panel of PCMA members will review applications and select recipients.

This time is no exception. We cannot do this alone; it will take all of us working together, towards one goal, for our industry to recover,” said PCMA Foundation Chair Valerie Sumner, (left) owner of VRS Meetings & Events.

Accelerating Reskilling is one piece of Recovery Discovery, PCMA’s plan to help members recover from the economic impacts of the pandemic. It also includes research, event experimentation, and other education.
