Meeting planning company Experient has tapped Cvent as its preferred hotel sourcing platform.
Through this partnership, Experient is expected to source more than two million hotel room nights annually through the Cvent Supplier Network, an online marketplace that includes more than 200,000 hotels and other meeting venues.
“Experient is one of the largest full-service, third-party planning organizations and its recent acquisition by Maritz Travel has enabled Cvent to significantly expand its portfolio of meeting planner customers to include new corporations, associations, and the government,” said Chuck Ghoorah, co-founder and executive vice president of sales and marketing at Cvent, McLean, Va.
“Cvent’s platform has proven to be a valuable resource to our planners,” said David Peckinpaugh, CMP, president of Maritz Travel and Experient. Maritz Travel, which acquired Experient in 2012, has been using the Cvent platform since 2011. “This unique solution has been extremely beneficial to our business by enabling our planners to research and source world-class destinations, at premier venues for our clients, and we look forward to providing the same level of service to our association, tradeshow, and government clients under the Experient umbrella,” he said.
Through the Cvent Supplier Network, planners can submit electronic Requests for Proposal to more than 200,000 hotels and venues in more than 900 major cities in 175 countries around the world and compare side-by-side bids to help them save significantly on event costs.
In other news, Cvent filed financial information with the Securities and Exchange Commission on July 9 indicating that it will hold an initial public offering of common stock.
