Medical meeting managers have a whole slew of regulations and requirements to deal with on top of all the rest that goes along with planning meetings and events. That’s why the Convention Industry Council created the CMP-HC, a subspecialty designation open to healthcare meeting managers who have earned the Certified Meeting Professional designation. And now, according to its Web site, CIC is waiving all fees for those who want to take the beta test. The beta test, which initially was scheduled for October, now will be held November 7 through December 2, 2013, at Prometric computer-based testing centers throughout the world. Those who pass will be the first to hold the CMP-HC designation.
The exams will be held in May and November moving forward, though specific dates and deadlines for the full rollout of the subspecialty exams won’t be announced until after the beta test is completed. The organization needs a minimum of 100 beta testers to be able to ensure the exam is ready to be implemented on a wider basis.
To be eligible for the CMP-HC, planners must hold a current, valid CMP, have three years of experience in planning events for healthcare organizations, and have 15 clock-hours of education specific to healthcare meeting management over the past five years.
