I always wear my bulkiest shoes and coat on the plane to save storage space in my luggage, but it never occurred to me to pack my whole suitcase into my outfit to avoid having to check a bag (and pay the fee). Who even knew wearable luggage even existed?
Those who hang out on FlyerTalk, that's who. Their suggestions range from the eminently practical (LL Bean’s tropic-weight travel vest, which looks fairly normal other than having a ton of pockets), to the “Whoa, hope that won’t be sitting next to me” Jaktogo, fashionably available in denim or faux leather.
Will these clothing/luggage hybrids ever pose a real threat to airlines’ baggage fees? I seriously doubt it. But I do have a lot of travel coming up in the next few weeks, so I’ll be keeping an eye out for suspiciously bulgy pockets!
