AT A GLANCE: In June, CWT Meeting & Events’s parent company Carlson Wagonlit Travel announced the acquisition of Ormès, a French meetings and events company with 150 employees. An Ormès–CWT Meeting & Events integration is under way. This year, CWT Meetings & Events inked a global agreement with Cvent, implementing its event management platform (including technologies for sourcing, data consolidation, meeting planning, and more) in a phased approach for CWT M&E’s clients across North America, Asia Pacific, and Europe. CWT M&E also rolled out a suite of 12 strategic meetings management consulting packages to help clients design and implement their SMMs. Also new this year, the company introduced a due-diligence process for destination management companies, which provides in-depth background on a DMC before entering into a contract; opened a 10-employee office in Costa Rica; and won its first Crystal Award from the Society for Incentive Travel Excellence. The award for “Most Impactful Effort Toward Corporate Social Responsibility” was earned in partnership with Dragonfly, a DMC in South Africa.
