I've been toying with the idea of podcasting for quite a while now, so when I saw Mike McAllen, the podcast king over at Grass Shack Events and Media, was offering a free guide to podcasting for events, I was ready to download. I usually am really leery of giving out my e-mail address to register for something or get a download, but I know these guys won't abuse the privilege, so I went ahead and plugged mine in.
Not only did I get the guide super-fast sent to my in-box, but I also got the best message immediately after I registered. In giant letters it said:
"Thank You! Thanks a bunch for filling that out. It means a lot to us, just like you do! We really appreciate you giving us a moment of your time today. Thanks for being you."
What a great way to show appreciation for my being willing to take the bait! How do you thank your attendees/participants/clients for trusting you with their personal information, other than giving them access to something they want? A little instant feel-good message is a small thing, but the impact, at least on me, was pretty huge.
