ASAE and The Center just released a draft version of its Social Responsibility Principles, an outcome of the social responsibility forum the organization held last spring. The draft is open for comment until Oct. 16, so get your licks in now.
I just glanced over it, and found nothing to complain about, really. Advocacy, leadership, ethics, diversity, self regulation, human rights, philanthropy and community service, and environmental and economic sustainability--yup, that about covers the range of things to work on. It's awfully vague, as I suppose it has to be to be applicable to all associations. But it reminds me a bit of those mission statements every organization has stuck on a wall somewhere gathering dust. I wish it seemed more like a living, moving, doing type of document, but maybe that's just me.
