That headline would probably make her cringe, but what the heck. Many people in the CME world know
Debra L. Gist, MPH, who until recently served as director of CME at Duke University School of Medicine, and before that as the senior consultant for Sharp HealthCare‘s corporate office of CME. Now she's hung out her shingle in Carlsbad, Calif., as a provider of consultative services on all aspects of operating an office of continuing medical education. With experience as both an ACCME Site Surveyor and an ACPE Field Reviewer, she has particular expertise in ACCME and ACPE accreditations, and she works in collaboration with her clients to achieve practical, cost-effective, and compliant solutions to the challenges in their specific CME practice setting.
Debra's credentials also include being published in the Journal of Continuing Education in the Health Professions and the Western Journal of Medicine, and recently received a President‘s Award from the Alliance for CME for “outstanding leadership and contribution to the Alliance” as the lead author of the ACME publication, A Monitoring and Quality Improvement Plan for Regularly Scheduled Conferences. I've had the pleasure of getting to know her somewhat over the years and hearing her present at conferences, and I know if I needed some help with a CME office, I'd call her in a heartbeat: She knows her stuff.
If anyone would like to learn more about her services, I'm sure she wouldn't mind if you dropped her an e-mail. In the meantime, please join me in wishing her well on her new venture.
