According tothis article, the Maryland Board of Physicians has charged Sean Tunis, one of the leaders at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, with falsifying his CME credit records. He's also charged with "failing to comply with subpoenas and exhibiting unprofessional conduct in the practice of medicine."
Oh good, so a key person on handling the new quality of care initiative could have his license suspended or withdrawn--Tunis "is expected to play a major role in deciding Medicare s coverage policy on certain pharmaceuticals as part of the new Medicare drug benefit, which goes into effect in January." For all the sordid details, check out the Hill article, but it doesn't give me a warm fuzzy to have a main policymaker at CMS be someone who falsifies records and refuses to deal openly with problems.
