Should I be afraid, very afraid, of this trend? Wikia, the company that brought us user-built encyclopedia Wikipedia, is now getting into open-source magazines. This means readers can have full control over writing, editing, and designing these three magazines. Wow. We'll see how it plays out—call me biased, but I do think editors are still needed—but if it works, it could be amazing. Then again, when I've tried to set up a wiki to give people a place to collaborate on developing editorial, no one played. Maybe it's just me?
