To attend the Creative Commons briefing on copyright basics, you have to "go" to a place called Kula 4 in Second Life, a 3-D virtual world. I've been meaning to check out Second Life, which I hear is really an amazing online world. Now that meetings have infiltrated that world, I'm really motivated to give it a try.
For those who have attendees who want a little more reality, but can't make a meeting in person, check out what CustomerMade conference organized by Innovation Lab in association with O'Reilly Media Inc. is doing (via BoingBoing):
- The conference is now full-booked. However, it is possible to attend the conference virtually with our free Lab TV live streaming. Furthermore you can read interviews, vox pops and general coverage from the conference on this site.
Pretty cool, huh?
And then there's Ben's idea for using technology for live meetings. There's more, but here's a snip:
- Imagine if you set up a conference track that was organized in advance, but only promoted and scheduled via opt-in text messaging? The track might include intimate conversations with speakers, or breakfast with the board president, or special meet-ups of tech-savvy members.
