Event management software company etouches LINK announced the acquisition of Loopd today, a move that increases the company’s array of data-driven event solutions.
Loopd, winner of the annual #IMEXpitch startup competition in 2015, creates wearable smart badges for conference attendees that provide organizers with intelligence on event traffic and engagement. The subscription-based platform gives meeting organizers analytics on engagement time at booths, attendance at presentations, and other traffic data in real time. The Loopd device also works as a networking tool for attendees, allowing them to record contact information from other attendees or exhibitors with context information such as the time and location where the connection was made. Shane Edmonds, CTO of etouches, says, “Loopd’s cutting-edge technology was tailor-made for the events and meetings industry, and by combining it with our market-leading EMS products, we are making the future of event data and ROI accessible to our customers today.”
Brian Friedman, the 25-year-old co-founder and CEO of Loopd, and other members of the Loopd team, are joining etouches in its new Norwalk, Conn., headquarters to integrate the product into the etouches suite of event management solutions and to work on new technologies.
Friedman told MeetingsNet, “I'm excited to be part of etouches because we have the opportunity to redefine the entire marketing industry. Currently, events are one of the largest investments for a marketer, however they lack the technology to measure the success of their events. With etouches we can bridge the gap between the physical and digital worlds, and drive the entire marketing strategy through events.”
Edmonds is looking forward to working with the Loopd team on new technologies. He says, “What really attracted us to Loopd was their innovation roadmap, which will be a true game changer for event technology.”
