Chaminade Resort & Spa has been restored to its former Spanish Revivalist glory after a $10 million renovation. Set on a 300-acre campus above Monterey Bay and Santa Cruz, the 1930s property upgraded its 156 rooms in the first phase of the renovation; they now have new bathrooms, furnishings, and a fresh color palette. Located in 11 villas spaced around the property for privacy, many guest rooms have balconies and patios, and guests have easy access to the three-mile redwood walking trail, tennis courts, golf course, and outdoor swimming pool.
The second phase of the renovation focused on public spaces and the more than 12,000 square feet of meeting and event space. There’s a newly created 2,800-square-foot Seascape Ballroom on the ground floor with access to a courtyard, an event patio with a fire pit, and views of Monterey Bay. Chaminade has nine other meeting rooms plus a new signature restaurant, The View, featuring a large fireplace and a terrace for outdoor dining. There’s also an event lawn with fire pits for evening receptions.
The hotel’s new lobby is flooded with natural light from an arched glass ceiling, while a grand staircase boasts Spanish tiles and wood beams.
Chaminade Resort & Spa is 34 miles south of Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport and 62 miles south of San Francisco International Airport.
