The Religious Conference Management Association’s Board of Directors has elected D’Wayne Leatherland, CMP, as its newest member.
Leatherland, who has more than 15 years of experience as a meeting planner, is president and owner of Leatherland Consulting & Management Services in Phoenix. Specializing in faith-based and non-profit arenas, Leatherland’s consulting company provides event and project management services for retreats and board meetings as well as large conferences and trade shows.
A graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Leatherland got his start working at Nazarene Youth International. He also was in charge of meetings at the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association before departing in 2008 to start his own company.
Leatherland will serve a one-year term with the RCMA board. He will serve alongside Melvin Worthington, CMP, National Association of Free Will Baptists (chairman); Melvin Tennant, CAE, Meet Minneapolis (vice chairman); Jackie Walker, Church of God (secretary-treasurer); Sheri Clemmer, CMP, Seventh-Day Adventist Church; Hugh Hill, Awana; Obadiah Jenkins, Jr., Church of Christ (Holiness); Debra Mardis, Salvation Army; Michelle Penner, Canadian Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches; Marvin Schmucker, CMP, MHS Alliance; Mollie Stewart, United Methodist Church; and Joshua Townsend, Capital Hotel, Little Rock, Ark.
